Radical 47 or radical river (巛部) meaning “river“ is one of the 31 Kangxi radicals (214 radicals total) composed of three strokes. (Wikipedia, Radical 47) This backdrop for the mandala, presented in small seal script calligraphy, was chosen to represent the Tao, or the unnamable Watercourse Way behind all of nature and spirit.
