Counter-Helix Weave Meditation

This meditation is a moving meditation, similar to certain qi gong maneuvers. The body core should be loose and flexible, so take adequate time earlier to stretch and loosen. To begin to apprehend what this meditation consists of, imagine a rotating barber pole that gives the illusion of a constantly arising corkscrew:

Now, imagine another barber pole rotating at the same speed in the opposite direction, but also ascending:

Superimpose these two images in your mind’s eye, so that essentially you have an ascending weave of counter-rotating helixes. Multiple nexuses/transition points are created wherever the helixes intersect. This visualization is the starting point of the meditation. One’s entire body and being will be in the center of the rotations. Note that this meditation is not the typical kundalini meditation, though it shares certain similarities with it.

The meditation performed physically is the closest representation of what can be emulated of the energy pattern with the human body. To execute it, stand with feet shoulder width apart and arms at the sides.

  • Raise to arms to the sides to shoulder level and sweep them downward, partially squatting as doing so, to cross (circle) the hands briefly behind the ankles. Begin a long, measured inhalation.
  • Bring both hands and arms around to the front of the body on their respective sides and cross/circle them in front of the knees, partially rising from the squat as doing so.
  • Continue rising to a relaxed standing position, and move the hands behind the back, crossing/circling them behind the sacrum.
  • Continue by bringing the hands in front of the body and crossing/circling them in front of the heart.
  • Hold the elbows in to your sides and move the hands out aligned just outside the ears at the jaw line.
  • Move the hands behind the neck, raising the elbows as you do so, and cross/circle them behind the neck. You can bend your head forward slightly if needed.
  • From behind the neck, raise the hands directly overhead together as if entering a swimming glide. Look upward at your hands as you do so. Finish the inhalation.
  • At the peak, slowly separate the hands and bring them down to the sides on either side of the body. Exhale slowly as you do so.

As you execute the meditation, sensgender the feeling of an energy pattern flowing following your hands’ motion. Repeat as many times as desired.

Counter-helix weave meditation

To execute this movement in an ascending fashion vitalizes and energizes. One can also reverse the meditation to pacify and more firmly ground body-mind energy. A modified version of this can be performed on the left and right sides of the body independently as well.

With practice and proper mind focus/intent, one can begin to feel the energy pattern has a life of its own, and one discovers it can spontaneously begin and execute itself without the physical movement, similar to how a gasoline engine starts when coaxed by cord pulls on a lawn mower. For the body’s benefit, it is always best and most beneficial to bring it along for the journey.
